Dakota County Subcommittee Appointments
Solid Waste Issues
-Z Wen 46C..
April 1, 1988
As of this writing I have received interest from only two
citizens to be involved in the above subcommittees. They are:
Vicki Van Duyn, 3060 Lower 147th Street West; and
Dale Stoerzinger, 14916 Cimarron Avenue.
Both persons indicated an interest in serving on the recycling
committee; and both indicated that if that was not possible, they
would gladly serve on the routed collection committee.
I have discussed appointments to these committees by other cities
with their administrators; and at this writing there seems to be
some confusion as to whether these appointments should represent
the city council's position or just general citizen input.
County staff has indicated their intent was to have
representatives of cities on these committees to create
"liaisons" between the city councils and the county's Solid Waste
Advisory Board. We are awaiting a clarification from County
Administrator Lyle Wray on this and would hope to have it prior
to the council meeting on Tuesday.
With that in mind, I would recommend that you consider the two
citizens, who have shown interest in serving, for appointments to
the recycling committee and routed collection committee unless
the county requests direct representation by city staff/council.
A third person to serve on the education committee should also be
recommended so we would have representation on that committee if
the county approves.
