Approve Specs/Authorize Ad for Bids for Tractor/Loader/Backhoe
In the 1988 C.I.P. Staff budgeted $65,000 for the replacement of our existing
1974 John Deere Tractor -Loader -Backhoe. The Public Works Department has
completed putting together a specification for this replacement unit. The
standard specification is based upon a Ford Model 555 B Tractor -Loader -Backhoe.
We will be comparing bids from other companies to this unit. The advertisement
for bids will be published once in the Construction Bulletin and twice in the
Dakota County Tribune.
The unit we are requesting to go out for advertisements for bids for would be a
60-70 horsepowerunit; 2 -wheel drive; factory -installed cab double acting l
cubic yard full subframe front end loader; center pivot, double acting lift 5
cubic foot capacity bucket with 14 foot digging depth backhoe. We are also
requesting options for a frost bucket and a ditch clean-up and grading bucket, a
tamper (hydraulic compacter) and jackhammer (hydraulic breaker).
I would recommend that Council approve the specs and authorize a advertisement
for bid opening for the tractor -loader -backhoe to be held at 10:00 a.m., April
19, 1988.
