Authorize Two-Way Stop at Claret & 155th StreetWit, iia DATE: JUNE 2, 1988 TO: MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL C/O ADMINISTRATOR JILK rr`r f FROM: CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR HEFTI RE: ITEMS FOR THE JUNE 7, 1988 COUNCIL MEETING NEW BUSINESS Authorize Two -Way Stop at Claret Avenue and 155th Street I have received some complaints about there not being any traffic control at this intersection. Traffic attempting to access onto 155th Street off of Claret does not stop or yield to traffic at 155th Street. With the connection of 155th Street to Shannon Parkway and the further development of the O'Leary's Additions, this problem will become much worse. As yet I am unaware of any accidents at this intersection. I have discussed this with Police Chief Staats and we both conclude that installing stop signs on Claret Avenue would be the appropriate traffic control. These ,stop signs would be warranted at Claret because of a minor street (Claret) intersecting with a major street (155th Street) Recommended action for Council to take regarding this issue would be to adopted the attached resolution authorizing the installation of stop signs on Claret Avenue at the intersection of 155th Street and to authorize the Public Works Department to install those signs. CITY OF ROSEMOUNT RESOLUTION 198$ - A RESOLUTION DIRECTING PLACEMENT OF TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF CLARET AVENUE & 155TH STREET WEST WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount is interested in the safety of its residents; and WHEREAS, the continued development in the City of Rosemount has produced high volumes of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within the City of Rosemount; and WHEREAS, the intersection of a local low volume street with a collector high volume street warrants the placement of stop signs on the local street. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemount directs the installation of the appropriate stop signs on Claret Avenue at the intersection of 155th Street West. ADOPTED this 7th day of June, 1988. Roldan Hoke, Mayor ATTEST: Stephan Jilk, Administrator/Clerk
