1988 Sidewalk Replacement Program
At the May 17, 1988 meeting the engineering department presented a feasibility
study for sidewalk replacement within the city. Because there were two
councilmen who were not able to attend and the council in attendance had
questions and concerns regarding a policy for purposed assessments for sidewalk
replacement, council continued this item at a later date so all councilmembers
could be present to discuss the potential sidewalk assessment policy.
One issue brought up at the last council meeting was to have the city maintain
all sidewalks in addition to the trailway corridors that we already maintain.
Two other cities that I am aware of that maintain there entire sidewalk system
are Inver Grove Heights and Richfield. I have not had time yet to get all the
cost details from either city, however I hope to have some more information by
Tuesday night meeting.
