HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.c. 145th Street West - No ParkingDATE: JULY 15, 1988 TO: MAYOR & COUNCILMEMBERS C/O ADMINISTRATOR JTLK FROM: CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR HEFTI G RE: ITEMS FOR JULY 19, 1988 COUNCIL MEETING NEW BUSINESS 145th Street West -No Parking There is immediate concern over vehicles parking along the shoulder, ditch, and bike trail in the vicinity of the Shannon Townhouse apartments, which are in the southeast corner of the intersection of Shannon Parkway and 145th Street. Because of the high vehicular traffic volumes on 145th Street, Staff is recommending to the Council that 145th Street be posted for "No Parking" on either side of the street from Diamond Path to Chippendale Avenue. There are already some "No Parking" signs in front of the Rosemount Green Apartments, however those signs need to be replaced because some are faded and they are all set too low. The minimum height for regulatory signs within an urban area is seven W) feet. Police Chief Staats and I reviewed the situation and both recommend the installation of these "No Parking" signs along both sides of 145th Street. Although we are not experiencing any problems on the north side of 145th Street, with the exception of a semi-tractor/trailer, Police Chief Staats and I both feel that they should be posted before development occurs. This way the "No 'Parking" will be enforced prior to development and no one will have to get use to changing habits which could happen if we waited until after development. Recommended action for Council to consider would be to adopt the attached resolution authorizing "No Parking" along either side of 145th Street from Chippendale to Diamond Path. s w # i CITY OF ROSEMOUNT RESOLUTION 1988 - A RESOLUTION DIRECTING PLACEMENT OF NO PARKING SIGNS ALONG 145TH STREET BETWEEN CHIPPENDALE AVENUE AND DIAMOND PATH WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount is interested in the safety of its residents; and WHEREAS, the continued development in the City of Rosemount has produced high volumes of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within the City of Rosemount; and WHEREAS, vehicle parking along both sides of 145th Street between Chippendale Avenue and Diamond Path Road does create a hazard. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemount directs the installation of the appropriate "No Parking" signs on both sides of 145th Street between Chippendale Avenue and Diamond Path Road. ADOPTED this 190 day of July, 1988. Rollan Hoke, Mayor ATTEST: Stephan Jilk, Administrator/Clerk
