Authorize Feasibility Report / Chippendale Ave. Street & Utility Improvements, City Project #191DATE: JULY 14, 1988 TO: MAYOR & COUNCILMEMBERS C/O ADMINISTRATOR JILK FROM: CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR HEFT RE: ITEMS FOR JULY 19, 1988 COUNCIL MEETING NEW BUSINESS Authorize Feasibility Report for Project #191, Chippendale Avenue Street Improvements MnDOT has notified me that the Highway 3 realignment and new railroad bridge construction between County Road 42 and 160th Street is being planned for 1989. As part of this construction, MnDOT is proposing to detour traffic from this segment of Highway 3. The proposed detour route would be 160th Street to Chippendale Avenue, Chippendale from 160th Street to County Road 42, and along County Road 42 back to Highway 3. Because Chippendale is proposed as a detour route, MnDOT indicated to us that they would improve the gravel portion of Chippendale Avenue. While we haven't received any details as to what MnDOT's involvement would be for these improvements, we need to plan for whatever utilities need to be installed prior to any improvements to the roadway. That is why I am requesting Council to authorize this feasibility report to look into what utilities need to be constructed to allow the improvement of Chippendale Avenue. The feasibility report will also define MnDOT's intentions of the improvements they are planning for Chippendale Avenue. Recommended action for Council to consider is to authorize our Consulting Engineers to prepare a feasibility report for Chippendale Avenue Street and Utility Improvements, City Project #191.
