Vibratory Ro11er Purchase-1988 C.I.F.
The 1988 C,i.P. Budget had a line item €or replaeing our existi.ng power roller.
The roller we would like to replace our existing roller' with eost $11,651 . This
price includes a trailer and trade-in value of our o1d unit.
Our existing unit is a Western one ton power roller. This was purchased in 1974
and has seen its useful life. We are requesting to replace it with a two ton
vibratory bituminous roller and trailer. Ttie model we received the lowest qu�te
for is a Rosco VibraStat III. The reason we are reqnesting a two ton rc�ller is
because it is the smallest size that comes with the vibrating feature. The
vibratory device is essential in order to obtain gaod density �*hen patching
streets.
In order to finance the additional $6,651 .00 that we are short in oiin c�adFc�t, I
am proposing that we use the $6,OOQ that was bi�dgeted for tl�e mezzanine in t:t�e
maintenance storage bay. The reason we are postponing the maintenance storage
bay mezzanine is because our 1989 budget is proposing to move the office and
lunchroom area from the existing mezzanine in the public works garage t.o thP

existing mezzanine for storage of small items. The r�maining $651 cc�z�ld Ue t:aken
from the utility bud�et as this unit is used for compacting bituminous when we
have to adjust gate valves & manholes or when we have to repair streets resuiting
from watermain breaks.

Action for Council to consider would be to authorize tlie pitrchase of the Rosro
VibraStat III, Vibratory Roller in the aroount vf $11,651 using ttie funding
sources described above.
