station. The Utility Commission and School District appraved of this project in
order to provide an alternate water source for irrigating the athietic fields.
Iiecause the schools irrigation system pumps water oiit of Scl►war� Pond as i.i:s only
water source, the sunnmertime irrigating would often ciraw the pond <lowr� t.o less
than desirable water levels. As a result the Scl�ool District and the Utility
Commission agreed to split the cost in half to install an alternate water source
off of an existing City line. This water source will be used when the p�nd level
is low, otherwise the pond will remain the primary water sotirce for t:h�
irrigataon of the athletic fi�lds.
The project is completed and the results of testing the system were satisfactory.
The final cost of the project amounted to $9,475.24 which was about $352 (4%)
above the bid price we received from Johnson Excavating. The additional cost
were resulting in extra fittings that were required to connect the systems
together. The Gity share will be taken out of the Core Facility Fund.
Action for Couneil to consider is to �pprove the k�ill frc�m Jolins�n Ex<��vaLin� in
the amount of $9,475.24 for the construction of the alternative irrigation supply
line for the high school.
