Re: Countp Raad 42/Canada Avenue
Based upon discussion held at seaff ineetings and upon additional
discussion and review bp city departments, city staff makes the
following recommendation for immediate conaideration for act3.on
to take at the above intersection.
Staff feels that the initial, not 3ust an interim, step to take
in dealin� with the safety issue at this intersection is to
remove the pedestrian walkwap from Lower 150th to County Road #42
�nd to take steps to erect a fence on the area abutting CR#42 to
eliminate pedestrian traffic from continning to use that access
to CR�42.
Use of mailed flyers to area residants to inform them of the
change and recommeadat�.ons for use vf Chipgendale and Highwap #3
for crossing to the sauth can be considered.
Staff further recommends that a request be aent to the County
Highway Department to receive a report from that department as to
the findings of their studp on this issue. City staff can then
review that information and meet with the county to �iscuss the
report and realistic alternatives to long term approa�hes to deal
with pedestrian traffic transversing CR#42.
