Q DATE: JANUARY 27,1987 TO: MAYOR KNUTSON CITY COUNCIL FROM: CITY ENGINEER HEF RE: ROTARY TWO-STAGE SNOW REMOVER .BID RECOMMENDATION On Friday, January 23, '1987 at 10:00 a.m. we received sealed bids for a rotary two-stage snow remover. We received two bids for this piece of equipment. One from Itasca Equipment Company and the -other from Boyum Equipment Company. Boyum Equipment Company submitted two bids for two different models. A copy of the bid abstract is attached for your information. Although the low bid is apparently from Boyum Equipment for an`Overaasen Model 106S at $44,930.00, a review of the specifications for this: particular model indicates it does not meet the specifications we requested in the bidding document. Also, the Overaasen Model 160H does not exactly meet the specifications either. However, the deviations from our specifications for this model do not appear to warrant not considering this piece of equipment because of non- compliance with specifications. Therefore, I am recommending that the Council award the contract for the rotary two-stage; snow remover to Itasca 'Equipment Company for a SNOGO Model MP -3D in the amount of $48,767.00. This piece .of equipment does meet specification outlined in the bidding document. I have checked with a couple other communities which have this same model and have received very favorable comments on its use and reliability. For Council information, we budgeted $70,000 in the 1987 C.I.P. for this piece of equipment.
