SUBJ: Need for Old City Nall by Vo -Tech
On Monday, January 26, 1987 Don McGuire, the superintendent of Dakota
County Area Vo -Tech, and John Morris, a member of the Board, met with
Steve Jilk, Dean Johnson and me. We spent considerable time discussing
the need that DCAVTI has for a day care facility.
Please see the attached letter from the State Board of Vocational
Technical Education, which seems to indicate support for direct'
involvement by DCAVTI in the agreement for lease and purchase of our
building. We were informed that first Corporate has backed out of the
picture and wishes to cooperate with Vo -Tech in providing help from
their research to this date, but will no longer be involved in
negotiating for lease or purchase.
DCAVTI would like to take over from here and continue the negotiations
with the city. We agreed to take this news to the Council and discuss
it at our February 3rd meeting. This would seem to be a very desirable
possibility and a very positive move by DCAVTI.

Mr. Donald McGuire, Superintendent
Dakota County AVTI
1300 - 145th Street East
Rosemount, Minnesota 55068
Dear Mr. McGuire:
I wish to extend our gratitude for the opportunity to visit with
you on Tuesday, December 30, 1986 and tour the Rosemount City
Hall Building across the street from your school. It appears as
if this building has the potential for housing a Childcare
operation which will meet the needs.of Dakota County AVTI.
Now that First Corporate Realty no longer appears to be involved
in the procurement of the building, it is our recommendation
you continue to _pursue acquiring the building from the City of
` Rosemount to meet your Childcare needs. We recommend this action
take the form of negotiating a lease directly from the City with
the option to purchase.
Given successful completion of this lease arrangement, 'I _ata "
willing to support your construction request which will provide
the monies to exercise the option and in the meantime assist
you with the identification of funds to accomplish the necessary
remodeling.
If we can be of any assistance to you in this effort, feel free
to contact Jerry Schmehl or myself at 612-297-1412.
Sincerely,
t f%
