RE: Computer Printer Purchase
Gentlemen
In an attempt to utilize both our staff and our new facility, the
location of the central processing and main printer was out in a secure,
out of the way location. The main printer provides high volume, long
printer run capabilities at a location which does not bother personnel`
by its noise.
It has become apparent following our move, that a second printer is
necessary for the accounting/water billing system at a more convenient
locationbeing up front by the finance/accounting area to provide
printing capabilities to that system at a spot where personnel will be
able to function without making as many a 50 trips a day to the main
printer location.
A second printer is also needed to -provide printing capability for short
runs when they are needed so that we don't have to wait long periods
while large reports, water bills, checks, etc. are being printed. As it
is now, many reports are being run unattended at night so as not to tie
up daytime printing needs. With a second printer not a1l of this "off
hours" printing will be -eliminated, but much will be.
To meet the need, staff recommends the purchase of a TI 810 model
printer.` This is a -9 inch wide carriage printer which would be placed
in the police department; and the unit in the police department, which
is a 15 inch wide carriage, higher speed printer, would be brought up to
the front office area. The police department has no 'need for the larger
printer; but at the time that system was purchased, the price was so
close to the narrow carriage machine, it was purchased.
The cost of this machine is $600 which is extremely low. It is a
reconditioned machine which would cost about $1800 new. The money for
its purchase would come out of revenue sharing funds.
