This machine will offer several copyying capabilitiesover the, existing machine as well is increasing the speed, and; throughput capabilities which we needy ; , Because of a special purchase by the supplier and because of the age of ouI^`old machine ',>we can receive an exceptional` price on the new machine and keep,our old one. The supplier 'choose s not to offer anything for thel old one:, We suggest that the old machine will be placed in the police department for their use, Their copier is extremely undependable.;'' In addition to updating of the high speed`, high volume copier; staff has discussed even since I've been here the desire of having color copying/color . printing capabilities, especially in light of the newsletters being published by the parks & recreation department. In order that we may satisfy the present needs of that department and to get an insight as to possible approaches to the use of color for in house printing needs, not only in the parks department but other departments as well, staff further recommends the purchase of a second copier. The recommended unit would be a Mitah DC -114.- This unit offers multiple color copying (three colors in a pass) and color editing (choosing different colors for different portions of a copy) at a price of $1,395 (list is $2,495). A copy (black & white) of the spec sheet is attached; Staff considered the purchase of a copier which could give us both color and speed instead of purchasing two machines but to do that would put us in a price range of about $18,000 to $20,000. This smaller machine would also be available for black and white, smali volume copying at the front window service area which is a need we have. CLERK'S FILE 1 98?
