Bechtold - Director of Parks & Recreation DATE: February 12, 1987 SUBJECT: Exercise Room Quotes Several of the retailers in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area that deal with exercise equipment and weight training supplies were contacted for quotes/bids on equipment for the exercise room in the lower level of City Hall. U.S. Games, a Texas catalog outlet, was also contacted for quotes and did respond to most of the items on the request list. Although there was an interest expressed in the project by five of the businesses only one of them gave quotes on the complete list and the type of products requested. I have enclosed a 'list of the quotes received. There is also a recommendation for items to be purchased. Several of the quotes received pertained to items listed, however, not of the quality required for use other than home use. The recommendations that are being made follow a personal inspection of equipment either in the retail stores or in use in athletic facilities. All equipment recommended for purchase is of the type for institutional use. Purchases of all equipment is recommended from Kokesh Athletic of Eden Prairie except for the exercise bicycles. Those two items should be purchased from Herman's Sports, the Richfield Outlet. Items such as mirrors, floor mats, carpeting for walls, and sound proofing of the ceiling are not included in this proposal. I am available to answer any questions you may have regarding this recommendation and the process used in determining items to be purchased. A circle is placed around each of the items to be purchased in the column of the retailer giving the quote. The total purchase amount for items recommended for purchase at this time is $ 5963.50.
