RE: Computer Equipment Purchase
To continue our program of expanding_ and purchasing of computer
equipment for our staff and to more nearly complete our selection of
hardware for our computerization needs at this juncture, I would submit
the following recommendation:
Purchase the following equipment:
Item 1: 3 PC XT's at $1,235 each $3,705
Item 2: 1 Keytronic (KB 5151) Type Keyboard 128
Item 3: 1 Wide Carriage Dot Matrix Printer 675
Item 4: 1 Two Selector Switching Box 108
Item 5: 1 Three Selector Switching Box -0-
Item 6: 1 Keyboard Storage Drawer Space Saver 95
Item 7: 1 Stand for 80 Column Dot Matrix Printer 15
Total: $4,726
This additional equipment will provide word processing, spread sheet and
data base capabilities to three more work sites; that being Dave
Bechtold, Don Darling and myself. The additional printer will be used
by Rich Hefti to support his, engineering work done in his PC and those
needs of the computerized water control system. It will free up the
small printer he has now to be used by me.
The only additional equipment and software left to purchase from my
recommendation of February 3, 1987 would be a -central PC/AT and the
networking software to tie everything together for common use of data.
At this point we are unable to recommend the networking software because
we haven't found the version we want. We've been promised a version to
do what we need, but it is not up and running locally yet so we want to
wait on purchasing any thing at this time.
With the above referenced purchase we are easily maintaining the
estimated cost we gave you in February, and I recommend that if you
approve this purchase, the dollars be taken from Revenue Sharing funds.
I will be pleased to answer any questions on this matter atyour
convenience.
