5b. Receive Bids/Award Contract - West Ridge 2nd Addition Street & Utility
Improvements
Staff opened bids for the West Ridge 2nd Addition Utility & Street
Improvements on July 15, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. There were eight (8)
bidders for this project. I am attaching a copy of the bidders list
and their bids. As you can see from this list, the apparent low bidder
is American Contracting at $245,688.94. Our Consulting Engineer is
extending the unit prices and checking the arithmetic on all of these
bids.
This project came in at almost 24% under the Engineers estimate and
almost 39% under the feasibility report estimate.
While I have received the necessary easements from the Gergens' for the
storm sewer and temporary street turnarounds, the Developer has not yet
completed his grading on this site. Therefore, I would recommend that
Council receive the bids and continue the award of this contract until
the Developer completes the site grading for the street -right-of-way
and any utility corridors.
We can hold this bid for forty-five (45) days from bid opening. This
means the Developer has until Friday, August 14, 1987 to complete
enough of the site grading to allow this contract to proceed with the
Council awarding the contract at the August 18, 1987 meeting at the
latest. I will be advising the Developer of the situation and will be
able to report to you on Tuesday night on the Developers status.
