RE: Burning Permit Information
Pursuant to the direction of the Council and thorough research completed
by Sue Johnson on what other communities are doing, at the request of
Vern Napper ( this information is attached for your review); this items
is again on the agenda for discussion.
Based upon this information, my discussion with staff and Chief Turek, I
would recommend that we continue with present policy of application,
inspection and fee charge with a couple of changes to be considered:
(1) No permits to be issued without payment of a fee.
(2) Permits to be issued within two weeks of application unless a delay
is caused because of some issue relating to approval by the fire
department due to the applicant.
(3) Consider putting a limit on use of a permit or charging a higher
fee for permits covering period longer than 30 day. This
suggestion is in light of the need to follow up on parties doing
burning involving burn projects for extended periods.
I will be pleased to discuss this issue in greater detail at the
meeting.
