MINNESOTA .55068 G , i [ V ` 612-423-4411 TO: Mayor Knutson Councilmembers: Napper Tucker Walsh Willard FROM: Stephan Jilk, Administrator/Clerk DATE: July 31, 1987 RE: Rural Water System - July 30th Meeting On July 30th the University of Minnesota presented, through their consultants, 'information on a proposed "rural water system" for the - areas of east Rosemount with contaminated wells. This presentation was for the benefit of the residents with contaminated wells who were all invited to this meeting. Mayor Knutson, Vern Napper and 1 were in attendance. Gordon Kraus, of DeWild, Grant, Richest & Associates, the consulting firm hired to conduct the feasibility study and design of such a system, presented information on (1) alternate sources of the water; (2) alternates on ownership and operation of the system; (3) system design considerations; and (4) construction timetables. The question was then put to the residents whether the University should continue the study on the rural water system as a viable alternative to supply those residents with ,potable water. Following a'lengthy discussion on the proposal by residents, the hand vote was unanimous among the residents present, being 15 of 27 with contaminated wells. The consultant will complete a preliminary design with cost estimates now and advised me after the meeting that they will present this information to the city prior to the September 1st Council meeting. smj
