RE: Star City Project
I have discussed the status of the star city project with Cathy Bland
which the Chamber of Commerce, through the efforts of Cathy Bland and
other committee members, have worked on for many months.
I felt it would be good to get an update as to when we would expect the
completion of the project, if we could do anything to assist in this
completion and if any further expenses would occur for which we would be
funding under our commitment of $7,000 for 1987.
I was advised that a slide presentation, required by the State in this
program, is not completed. Completion requires that a couple more
slides be taken and then the presentation actually has to be put
together which is being done at no cost by the Minnesota Electric
Producers Association apparently through a community service program.
A final booklet pulling the whole package for Rosemount together has to
be printed. This is apparently being typeset now; and finally the
program needs to be presented to the Department of Economic Development
for approval.
Cathy needs a zoning map, which we will have updated and produced.
There will be expenses for printing and facilities, apparently a
production studio and expenses for putting on the presentation for the
State. These costs will come from the $7,000 allocatd by the city of
which over $6,800 remains.
I can't get a time frame for completion since much of the work is
gratis; and therefore difficult to control. I offered the city staff's
assistance if it can be somehow utilized without over extending our
staff's time too greatly.
I just wanted you to have this as I am sure you, as well as staff, has
had some concern over the project's completion.
