SUBJ: Alley Vacation/ Request for Public Hearing
The City owns the west 20 feet of Lots 47, 48 and the north 70
feet of Lot 61, Auditor's Subdivision No. 1. This strip of land is
more easily described as the "alley" behind the Ken Rose Mall. This
alley was most likely obtained when the Ken Rose building was
constructed. The old village owned much of the property in the
area at the time.
With the sale of the municipal liquor store, the City has no
remaining ownership in that area, nor any particular interests,
except for utility easements. Possible building additions to the mall,
which would extend into the alley, have brought this issue up. The
hearing process will allow area property owners, utility companies
and the City to comment on the possible vacation.
