MINNESOTA 55068 612-423-4411 TO: Mayor, Council, City Administrator FROM: Dean Johnson, Director of Community Development DATE: September 11, 1987 SUBJ: Alley Vacation/ Request for Public Hearing The City owns the west 20 feet of Lots 47, 48 and the north 70 feet of Lot 61, Auditor's Subdivision No. 1. This strip of land is more easily described as the "alley" behind the Ken Rose Mall. This alley was most likely obtained when the Ken Rose building was constructed. The old village owned much of the property in the area at the time. With the sale of the municipal liquor store, the City has no remaining ownership in that area, nor any particular interests, except for utility easements. Possible building additions to the mall, which would extend into the alley, have brought this issue up. The hearing process will allow area property owners, utility companies and the City to comment on the possible vacation. i CITY OF ROSEMOUNT RESOLUTION 1987- A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE VACATION OF A PUBLIC ALLEY WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount has a dedicated right-of-way used as a public alley, and WHEREAS, the right-of-way lies immediately adjacent to private property being developed for alternative education facilities, and WHEREAS, the right-of-way is only used for access to the private property, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount wishes to consider vacating this alley way to the betterment of the citizens of Rosemount. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemount will hold a public hearing on October 6, 1987 at 8:00 p. in. in the Rosemount Council Chambers. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive input as to whether the below described alley way should be vacated. The west 20 feet of Lots 47 and 48, and the west 20 feet of the north 70 feet of Lot 61, all in Auditor's Subdivision No. 1, Dakota County, Minnesota. Adopted this 15th day of September, 1987.
