SUBJ: Building Inspector Position
I am pleased to submit the name of Sieve Kirchman for the position of
building inspector. iron Wasmund and I interviewed two applicants from the
.original list of applicants for the plumbing inspector position. Both
candidates had excellent interviews.
Steve has an Associate of Science degree in design -drafting. He has 20
years of construction experience in residential and commercial construction.
For the past three years Steve has studied code manuals and attended
building conferences and seminars. He has received both Class I and Class
II certification from the building codes division. Steve is presently working
in the City of Burnsville as a contract inspector. We got an excellent
recommendation from our neighbors.
Steve and his wife live in Mankato and recently sold their home. They
have indicated the desire to relocate to the Twin Cities. The salary range
for this position is $22,000-$26,000. 1 am not recommending an abbreviated
step process; however, the City Administrator and I have reviewed 1988
salary ranges that will keep us in line with other cities. This information
will be presented at a later dale.
I recommend your approval of hiring Steve Kirchman for the position of
building inspector. With immediate approval by the Council, Steve can be
available to start October 13.
