Approved Plans/Order Bid Opening for Contract 1987-8, Erickson Park Softball
Field Lighting —
The 1988 approved C.I.P. provides $46,000.00 for softball field lighting for
Fields #1 & #3 in Erickson Park. In order to insure the lights will be
operational for the 1988 softball season, it is necessary that we go out for
bids and install these lights this fall with payment being made in 1988.
The anticipated schedule for this project is to approve plans and
specifications at the October 20, 1987 Council meeting and set November 13,
1987 at 10:30 a.m. to open bids for this project. The completion date
would then be January 10, 1988.
We are requesting to go out for contract in 1987 so that we may be
relatively safe in assuming that the project can be up and running by the
1988 softball season, which begins around the first week in May. To delay
this until spring could jeopardize the completion of this project in time
for the softball season because of the potential wet spring weather that
would pose serious problems to completing this project on time.
Therefore, I would recommend that Council approve the plans and
specification for the Contract 1987-8, Erickson Park Softball Field Lighting
and authorize a bid opening at 10:30 a.m. on November 13, 1987.
