6c. Approve Change Order #1 for West Ridge Second Addition
City Contract 1987-6
Our Consulting Engineer is recommending that Council approve this change order'
which provides for relocation of one hydrant and an extension of the completion
date of the project.
The hydrant that needed to be relocated was at the intersection of Danville
Avenue and 160th Street. This hydrant was installed prior to the installation of
the six foot concrete sidewalk'in this subdivision. At the time the hydrant was
installed the walkway was contemplated to be only a four or five foot walkway.
Because the hydrant was installed six feet inside the property line, the conflict
with the new sidewalk occurred.
Our Consultants are recommending we also extend the substantial completion date
to October 23, 1987, which was the scheduled final completion date, because of
some additional work that we requested be performed. Specifically, an extension
to an existing storm sewer pipe in the First Addition which had badly eroded at
the original outlet and some structure adjustments do to grade changes.
I find that the Consultants recommendations are legitimate and would recommend
that Council approve Change Order #1, a copy of which is attached, to Contract
1987-6, West Ridge Second Addition, to American Contracting and increase the
contract amount by $851.00 and authorize the Mayor to execute all related
documents.
