RE: Purchase of Die Squad Car
The Hennepin County bidding process has awarded squad car bids to
Thane Hawkins Polar Chevrolet for at price of $11,687.00 per car.
In the 1988 budget we had budgeted $12,000.00 to purchase one
squad car. We do have a cut-off date of December 14, 1987 for
ordering this squad car.
In 1987 we purchased two Chevrolet squad cars from the same Company
using the same bidding process.
The squad we will be purchasing is a 1988 Chevrolet Caprice.
It will be replacing the 1986 Dodge squad car and the Dodge squad
car will be replacing a 1983 Ford. This Ford will either be sold
outright or we can, in the spring, take it to the auction where
other cities auction their squads and vehicles off.
This 1983 Ford is not a vehicle to remain with the City motor
pool because of the age and the mileage on it or it could be used
as a trade-in for another Department's item.
