Studies on: Fire Station Needs
Public Safety Department
Public Works Facilities
Gentlemen:
In the 1988 operating budget, funds were allocated for completion of
studies on the following items:
(1) The ntimber and location of fire station facilities for the City of
Rosemount;
(2) The needs for and location of an enlarged or new public works
central garage facility;
(3) Determine whether or not the fire department and police department
should be brought under singular administration in a unit
designated as "Public Safety."
At this time staff would like to request your approval to proceed with
these items.
The process would be as follows:
(1) Authorize preparation of Requests for Proposals for completion of
both studies. We recommend having these RFPs submitted to Council
on February 1, 1988.
(2) Council approves RFP's and authorizes the solicitation of vendors
proposals.
(3) Staff reviews proposals and recommends vendor designation.
(4) Council approves vendors and authorizes studies.
(5) Studies are completed by vendor; with staff input, and submitted to
staff and Council for review and acceptance.
(6) Staff makes recommendation to Council based on studies' results on
facilities. We hope to complete these studies prior to June 1,
1988.
