Street Sweeper Bid AwardDATE: DECEMBER 10, 1987 TO: MAYOR & COUNCILMEMBERS C/O STEVE JILK, CITY ADMINISTRATOR FROM: CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR HEFTI RE: ITEMS FOR THE DECEMBER 15, 1987 COUNCIL MEETING OLD BUSINESS Award Contract for 1988 Street Sweeper Purchase On Thursday, December 10, 1987 at 2:00 p. m. the City received sealed bids for purchasing a 1988 street sweeper to replace the existing 1974 Sweeper. We received two bids, one from Boyum Equipment and one from MacQueen Equipment. The bid tab is attached. As you can see, the MacQueen Equipment bid resulted in a net purchase price of $56,280.00 after trade-in. This is about $7,500.00 less than Boyum Equipments bid. Staff has reviewed the equipment bid with the specifications and find the Elgin Pelican HHDual Street Sweeper to meet or exceed the bid specifications. Staff requested a bid for an option to purchase a 3 year extended warranty period, Boyum Equipment did not bid any and MacQueen Equipment bid a cost of $2,500.00. I feel the $2,500.00 figure is rather steep, considering we have a one year warranty on the equipment included with the purchase. I would like to recommend to Council to accept the bids for the 1988 Street Sweeper and award the contract to MacQueen Equipment in the amount of $56,280.00. Payment will be made upon delivery, which MacQueen Equipment indicates as February 1, 1988. I will be available to answer any questions regarding this item at the December 15, 1987 Council meeting.
