Accept Resignation of Bennie Hotvedt / Authorize Replacementk-, a DATE: DECEMBER 10, 1987 TO: MAYOR & COUNCILMEMBERS C/O STEVE JILK, CITY ADMINISTRATOR FROM: CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR HEFTI (h RE: ITEMS FOR THE DECEMBER 15, 1987 COUNCIL MEETING NEW BUSINESS Resignation of Bennie Hotvedt, Maintenance II Attached is Mr. Bennie Hotvedts' letter of resignation that will be effective December 18, 1987. Mr. Hotvedt is leaving the City for another job after working for Rosemount about 10 years. I would like Council to accept Mr. Hotvedts' resignation and authorize. Staff to advertise for his replacement. I would like to pursue a new job description for Bennies' position that will more accurately identify the mechanical/equipment maintenance duties that the City needs. I would also propose working with the Union to negotiate a new wage scale and classification for this position. I have not yet developed a job description, however in general, I see it to be more equipment maintenance orientated than equipment operation. I don't feel that we need a full fledge certified mechanic at this time, however we do need someone who can keep track of accurate records for all equipment preventative maintenance and perform the necessary operating maintenance, such as replace brakes, do tune-ups, diagnosis problems, etc. I will be available to answer questions or comments that Council may have regarding this item.
