FUTURE LAND USE MAP COMP PLAN DISCUSSION
The Planning Commission is being asked to review revisions to the City’s future land use map that have
been prepared after further discussions with the University of Minnesota concerning the UMore Park area.
The future land use map has been amended to include a larger portion of UMore within the City’s 2030
MUSA (Metropolitan Urban Service Area) and to also add additional UMore property within the 2040
MUSA line. The various land uses proposed for this area are consistent with some of the early planning
work being performed by the University and its partners.
In addition to reviewing the updated land map, staff would also like to discuss an upcoming public
meeting with the Commission. In place of the August Planning Commission work session, staff is
proposing to conduct a City-wide open house to present an update on the City’s comprehensive planning
work to date. A key component of this meeting will be the updated land use map that the Commission
has been discussing over the past several months. The meeting will provide the Planning Commission
with another opportunity to receive feedback on the plan before moving on to the technical sections of
the document.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is looking for input from the Commissioners concerning the updates listed above. Because the
meeting is a work session, no action is required.
