REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, July 5, 2017
1 CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Environment & Sustainability Task Force of the
City of Rosemount was called to order on July 5, 2017 at 5:32 p.m. in the Conference Room of the City
Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount. Attendees included: Task Force Members in attendance were
Rebecca Higgins, Katie Koch-Laveen, Wade Miller, Karen Malkowski, and Mark Glende. City Senior
Engineer Technician Derick Anderson, Interim Public Works Director John Morast also attended.
2 ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
None
3 APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Miller. Second by Koch-Laveen.
Ayes: 5.
Nays: 0. Motion carried.
4 PRESENTATIONS
None
5 OLD BUSINESS
a. Partners in Energy
PIE kickoff meeting scheduled for Monday July 31th.
1) Need to create an Energy Action Team. Task Force Members will contact solicit Energy Team
participants for Homeowners Associations, DCTC, U-More Park, Strip Mall owners, Small Business
Owners, and Churches.
b. Leprechaun Days
Promote Water Efficiency Grants at the Leprechaun Days Booth. Use display of toilet to promote water
use efficiency.
c. Star Program
Star Program check-in steps forward; delayed until future meeting.
d. Snow Plow Policy
Snow Plow Policy Debate; Delayed until future meeting.
e. iMatter Youth Council-Climate Report Card
Recommend that we promote iMatter Youth Council-Climate Report Card
6 NEW BUSINESS
a. Leprechaun Days Planning
1) Booth Reservation Renee
2) Finalize Staffing email has gone out
3) Handouts and activities
Theme: Water - Quality, Efficiency, Ground Water
Handouts: Bags – Dakota Electric, Excel Energy, Dakota County, Rebate Flyer
b. Alliance for Sustainability Report: Katie and Rebecca
c. REST Program Narrowing Focus for greater impact.
Rebecca proposed that REST focus on 2 tracks going forward
1) Track 1: Small Projects: Engage community in PIE, iMatter Climate Report
2) Track 2: Policy: Incorporate Sustainability into Long Term Infrastructure Plan. Review City Policy
to check for Sustainability. Climate Action Plan. Approach City Council with Idea ‘What
opportunities is Rosemount missing out on because of a failure to incorporate sustainability factors
in Long Term Plan?’
