Correction under the Concrete Pads ($12,600) and for the Upgrade of the Picnic Tables

ISSUE
During the construction of Rosemount’s newest park, Greystone Park, the contractor encountered more
top soil and clay materials than anticipated in the area where much the project’s concrete will be placed.
Because of the small scale of the project, staff chose not perform soil borings because of the cost. The City
and our consultant on the project, Loucks Inc., identified the soil correction volume at 516 cubic yards
(CY). The contractor used sand from the site to replace the top soil and clay materials. The total cost for
this change to the project is $12,600 which would be paid for through the Parks Improvement Fund,
which has a current fund balance of $779,952.
The second request with this change order is that staff requested a different style of picnic table than was
originally specified in the plans and specifications. The total cost for this change to the project is $220.00
which would also be paid for with Parks Improvements Funds.
