The 31st annual LepYechaun Days Run for the Gold was held Satutday,July 22. We had a gxeat turnout
with 258 participants running either the one-mile or four-mile couxse ox both. Participants also had the
oppoxtunity to walk the two routes ox participate in our kids run for free. Men's winnex of the 1-mile Yace
was Kevin Gunawan of Apple Valley with a time of 4:47. Lauren Peterson of Farxnington was the
women's 1-mile winner with a time of 5:43,as well as the winner of the 4-mile race, running it in 25:18.
Luke Labatte of Inver Grove Heights won the men's 4-mile race with a time of 23:05. The Run for the
Gold is sponsored by Scott Chiropractic in Rosemount and Run MN in Burnsville.
Below is a comment made by one of our participants following the event. We pride ourselves in an
organized run and axe thxilled to receive a nice comment.
"I just wanted to comment on the races from last Sat. I ran the 1-and 4-mile races.
For$20, I thought it was two of the best races I have ever run and I have been racing for over
30 years.
The shirts wexe great, course had water and mile markers every mile, lots of food and beverages at the
finish and timely race results.
I also thought it was nice to have so many age categories for the kids in the 1-mile. They seemed very
excited to get their medals.
I am a volunteer co-chair for the Twin Cities Marathon so I know how much work goes into a race.
Nice job and I hope to be back next year!"

RAAA Facilities Request—At our June Commission meeting, staff reported that the R.AAA Boaxd
recomxnended that the City build the four final fields at Flint Hills prior to building phase two at the
UMore Ballfields. They have indicated that they are seeing a larger increase in soccex, lacrosse and football
field needs versus baseball and softball. The Commission did not object to the proposed change but did
question where the additional funding would come from. The City Council recently discussed this topic
and also did not have issues with the switch. The Council felt that if we axe to do the Flint Hills field that
we should consider building the concessions/restroom building at the same time. The question of where
the additional funding will come from for the project is still being researched.
