ATTACHMENTS: None. APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Discuss results of the 6-month evaluation of the City Administrator and provide report on the Special Meeting held on August 15, 2017. BACKGROUND In accordance with the terms of the employment contract with City Administrator Martin, the City Council conducted a 6-month performance evaluation during a special meeting held on August 15, 2017. As required by State Statute 13D.05 Subd.3, the City Council must summarize the conclusions of its evaluation at the next open meeting Richard Fursman of Hue Life, the firm that also conducted the executive search for the City Administrator, facilitated the meeting and the collection of written feedback. Each Councilmember was provided with a digital survey to numerically assess the City Administrator’s performance in 8 categories, along with a review of progress on key 6 to 12 month priorities. A summary table of the 8 categories discussed is below: Work Area Weighted Avg. (scale of 1 to 5) Organizational Management 3.95 Fiscal / Business Management 3.71 Program Development 3.8 Relations with the City Council 4 Strategic Planning 3.68 Communications 3.67 Intergovernmental Relations 3.73 Professional & Personal Competencies 4.04 The City Council and City Administrator discussed areas of strength and quality performance demonstrated in the first 6 months of employment, and reviewed opportunities for continued growth. Overall, the City Council’s comments and evaluations indicated that the City Administrator is meeting or exceeding their expectations. Additional discussion or summary comments from the Council can be provided at the September 5 meeting. RECOMMENDATION Staff requests the City Council provide a summary of the 6 month evaluation of the City Administrator, as required by Minn. Statute 13D.05 Subd. 3.
