LEPRECHAUN DAYS TRASH COLLECTION—We received an E-mail from DSI with the results
of our Leprechaun Days recycling efforts. During Leprechaun Days ve separated recyclables and
organic/compostable materials from the trash at the Fire Department Waffle Breakfast, the Run for the
Gold, the Leprechaun Da<<s Parade, and at the i1id-Summer Faire. During the 1Tid-Summer Faire, Ilaster
Recycler volunteers checked waste stations and sorted the organics and recyclables from the trash. The
morning after the event ended, another group of volunteers sorted through all of the trash carts and
organic bins and further separated the materials. Once everythingvas separated andveighed, Leprechaun
Days had generated 187G pounds of trash, 1(80 pounds of recyclables, 1000 pounds of organics, and 15
pounds of plastic film. This resulted in diverting 59% of the waste generated at Leprechaun Days from
the landfill.
