ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: None BACKGROUND In June 2017, the Police Department completed an extensive testing process to fill patrol officer vacancies. Officer Nicholas Swanson and Officer Nicholas Bellos was selected to fill the vacancies and started with the Rosemount Police Department in July 2017. Officer Swanson grew up in Rosemount, MN and graduated from Rosemount High School. He attended the Minnesota State University Mankato where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree. Prior to graduating Officer Swanson worked for Rosemount Police Department as a Community Service Officer. The Community Service Officer program is designed to develop future Rosemount Police Officers. We currently have six sworn officers that have worked as a Community Service Officer prior to being hired as a sworn officer. Officer Bellos graduated from Maple Grove High School, and after graduation he joined the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician. After serving active duty, Officer Bellos returned to Minnesota and joined the Minnesota National Guard as a Military Police and has been deployed to Afghanistan. Prior to being hired with the Rosemount Police Department, Officer Bellos worked as a Federal Police Officer with the Department of Veteran Affairs. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Science degree with Metropolitan State University. Officer Swanson and Officer Bellos have completed their Field Training Program and we are excited to see them both succeed as a Rosemount Police Officers.
