BACKGROUND:
Rebecca Higgins, the chair of the Rosemount Environment and Sustainability Taskforce (REST) will
provide the City Council with a brief update on the activities of the REST, as required by the Taskforce
Bylaws. The City of Rosemount formed the REST in 2016 to advise the City Council on issues related to
the environment and sustainability. More information will be provided at the Council meeting

•City staff presented STAR status to REST Spring 2017
•REST discussed timing of applying for next STAR evaluation
•REST compared Green Step to STAR program process to evaluate
application level of effort
•Concluded Green Step will be easier on City Staff resources to pursue
next level certification but STAR should also be pursued after the next
step of Green Step is achieved
•Concluded that current efforts must be substantially complete to
apply for next level of STAR and Green Step
•REST will pursue next level for both in the coming 1-2 years.
