RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to designate Dakota County Tribune as the City’s
official newspaper for the year 2018.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending designating the Dakota County Tribune as its official newspaper in 2018. This will be
a change from years past.
Staff received the following quotes:
Farmington/Rosemount Independent Town Pages
• Currently designated Official Newspaper.
• Cost for legal ads in 2017 is $8.55 per column inch for non-camera ready and $7.65 for
camera-ready.
• All publication notices are due to by 9 a.m. on Monday for publication on Thursday.
Dakota County Tribune
• Cost for legal ads in 2018 is $7.20 per column inch, plus $20 charge for any typing.
• All publication notices are due by 10:00 am on Tuesday for publication on Thursday.
St. Paul Pioneer Press
• Cost for legal ads in 2018 is $6.00 per column inch, plus $20 charge for any typing.
• Publication notices are due by 10:00 am on the day prior to publication.
RECOMMENDATION
All statutory cities are required to designate an official newspaper each year. All required legal documents
and notices for the City of Rosemount will be published in the official newspaper. Based upon the quotes
received, staff recommends designating the Dakota County Tribune as the City’s official newspaper via
approval of the above-stated motion.
