ISSUE
The local business interested in purchasing some of the Canada Circle property hired a consultant to
draw a site plan and building elevations for a portion of the city-owned property. After further
discussion, staff commissioned the same firm to draw development scenarios which would allow
two users on the site (images attached). The two properties are each in the 85,000 to 93,000 square
foot range, with the eastern building being 15,000 square feet and the western 10,000 square feet.
Without conducting a detailed review with more information available, however it appears both
buildings can be accommodated on the site.
The item is on the agenda to confirm the Ports interest in moving forward with sale of property in
the $1.85 to $2.00 per s.f. range. The next step would be to put together a purchase agreement, have
the site surveyed, and ask the purchaser to provide more detailing on their building plans. All of
these activities will mean the expenditure of funds by the potential purchaser and the City, so a more
firm commitment of interest by the Port Authority is requested. Typically, the City wouldn’t agree to
sell the property without additional information about the business, site plan, and building. As such,
staff is planning on having more information for the Port at the next meeting.
