RECOMMENDED ACTION: Discuss potential for City of Rosemount support of a Dakota
County Corridors of Commerce application
BACKGROUND
County Engineer Mark Krebsbach contacted City Engineer Erickson regarding a potential Dakota County
Corridors of Commerce application. This application would be for the Trunk Highway 55 corridor from
the County State Aid Highway 42 intersection and then to the east. The scope is based on the Highway
52/42/55 Interchange and Highway 55 Regional Corridor Study of May 2002.
The corridor is approximately 5 miles with the portion in Rosemount comprising approximately 1 mile or
20% of the project. The project would provide a four lane section through the corridor at an estimated
cost of $50 million ($10 million per mile). Based on cost share policy and preliminary estimates the City of
Rosemount cost share would be approximately $1.5 million (3% of the total cost).
Dakota County is currently seeking input from Rosemount regarding this potential project. Should the
county decide to apply it is likely that a letter of support would be requested of the City of Rosemount.
SUMMARY
