HomeMy WebLinkAbout20170606 ESTF MinutesENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY TASK FORCE REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 6, 2017 1 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Environment & Sustainability Task Force of the City of Rosemount was called to order on June 6, 2017 at 5:33 p.m. in the Conference Room of the City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount. Attendees included: Task Force Members in attendance were Rebecca Higgins, Kathleen Koch-Laveen, Renee Burman, Colleen Corrigan, Wade Miller, Karen Malkowski, and Mark Glende. Vanessa Demuth (resident), City Senior Engineer Technician Derick Anderson, Interim Public Works Director John Morast also attended. 2 ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA None 3 APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Miller. Second by Malkowski. Ayes: 7. Nays: 0. Motion carried. 4 PRESENTATIONS Jennifer Kedward Dakota County Save the Food Campaign. In the U.S. 40% of our food supply goes uneaten yearly. The goal of Save the Food is to raise awareness about the amount of food purchased and not eaten in our households. Avery Hildebrand Conserve Minnesota Spoke about grant possibilities from Met Council; a pilot program for water quality is now available. This grant requires a 100% match. 5 OLD BUSINESS a. Partners in Energy PIE kickoff meeting scheduled for Monday June 12th. b. Green Corps application Rosemount was not chosen as one of the finalists for a Green Corp member. We will re-apply at the next application date. c. City Council Update Rebecca Higgins gave a Taskforce update to the City Council members on Tuesday May 16, 2017 NEW BUSINESS a. Vice Chair selected Kathleen Koch-Laveen was nominated as Vice Chair Motion Miller Second Burman Ayes 7 Nays 0 motion carried b. 3 Star Rating Clarissa Hadler from the city of Rosemount confirmed Rosemount was given a 3 star rating recently by scoring 325 points by the Star City Program. Previously, Rosemount had a rating of 2 stars. The 3 star rating is good for 3 years. To accomplish a 4 star rating Rosemount must score 400 or more points to be eligible. c. Leprechaun Days REST will again be at L.D. We will be handing out flyers, answering questions from residents. We are checking on the use of a tent and tables for our own space. Also checking on the availability of having a Mater Composter on Saturday. ANNOUNCEMENTS None The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, 2017. 6 ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
