The competitive cheerleading team at Rosemount High School is completing a season of great success,
culminating in the state championship. Rosemount Varsity Cheer has 20 athletes and competes in the large
non-tumble division. These athletes have two and a half minutes to do a variety of stunting, jumping,
dancing and cheering.
This year has been very successful for the team, which placed 1st in every competition leading up to the
state tournament, including Regionals, and competitions at the U of M, “Eastridge Extreme,” Jefferson,
and Prior Lake.
The commitment these students make is unlike any other sport, as their season runs from April to mid-
February. Along with their own competitions, the team leads the cheers at other sports events. These girls
have worked very hard to get to this point and are now reaping the rewards, with their state championship.
Last week, the team competed in nationals at Walt Disney World in Florida, where they reached the finals
and placed 8th in the nation.
