RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to accept two donations in the amount of $816.98 from
the RAHA Bantam B1 Hockey team; and authorize the expenditure of up to $816.98 for
purchasing shoes for the “Kicks for Kids” program.
ISSUE
In 2017, the Rosemount Police Department discovered there is a need for shoes for kids in our
community. To assist with meeting this need, the Rosemount Police Department created its “Kicks for
Kids” program. The Council is being asked to accept a donation from the Rosemount Area Hockey
Association (RAHA) Bantam B1 Hockey Team totaling $816.98. The total donation of $816.98 has been
made for the purpose of purchasing shoes.
BACKGROUND
After recognizing there are youth within our community who are in need of shoes, the Rosemount Police
Department implemented a new program called “Kicks for Kids”. This program provides a resource for
children who are in need of new shoes.
On Saturday, February 3, 2018, the RAHA Bantam B1 team along with the Rosemount Police Department
raised money bagging groceries at Cub Foods. In 2017, we used the funds raised to purchase shoes for
Rosemount Middle School and Rosemount High School. The money raised in 2018 will be used to
purchase shoes for kids at Rosemount and Shannon Park Elementary Schools. All shoes will be given to
the administration of the schools to distribute on an as needed basis.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the acceptance of the donations and authorization of the expenditure.
