The City Council supports educational institutions in Rosemount and the administrators, faculty, and staff
who serve their students. The Council tonight is commending Jane Berenz, who is retiring as the
superintendent of the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District.
Jane began her time in Rosemount’s schools as a kindergartner. She returned to District 196 after her first
years as a teacher in Colorado, serving students in special education. After several roles in administration at
the district’s schools, she was confirmed by the school board in 2009 to serve as superintendent.
During her time in the district’s top position, Jane successfully managed budget challenges and won the
confidence of voters to invest more money for education. Under her leadership, Rosemount schools have
seen improvements in facilities including important security features. Under her direction, the district has
made another investment in Rosemount’s successful future, with a site for a new elementary school to be
built in a few years to serve our growing population. As recognized when Rosemount was selected as one
of the nation’s “best places to be a kid” by Money magazine, our community is served by a “nationally
recognized school district of choice.” Jane has provided the consistent leadership to secure that position.
In the words of the plaque we are about to present,
The Rosemount City Council
commends
