Commendation of Tim Wynes EXECUTIVE SUMMARY City Council Regular Meeting: June 19, 2018 AGENDA ITEM: Commendation of Tim Wynes AGENDA SECTION: Commendations PREPARED BY: William H. Droste, Mayor AGENDA NO. 3.a. ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation of plaque The City Council values the presence in our community of Dakota County Technical College, a campus of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. DCTC provides a vital service to the success of our regional economy, giving our students an affordable way to learn and train for the jobs that are crucial for local businesses. Tonight the Council commends Tim Wynes, who in 2013 was serving as the president of another campus in the Minnesota State system, Inver Hills Community College. Tim added the leadership role at DCTC to his portfolio, first as interim president, and served as chief executive for both institutions. When his dual appointment was made permanent, the system cited his accomplishments including creation of transparent scholarship procedures, improved accountability across all sectors of the college, and implementing a system to track and communicate with students. Since then he has overseen renovations in 40-year-old classroom spaces for transportation studies and continued improvements to DCTC’s curriculum. Earlier this year, Tim announced he will retire from the Minnesota State system. In the words of the plaque we are about to present, The Rosemount City Council commends TIM WYNES President, Dakota County Technical College, 2013-2018 On behalf of the Council and the citizens we represent, we thank you for your leadership of the efforts to train the next generation of Rosemount’s workforce. Your efforts have provided our community with lasting benefits through well- educated students ready to meet the challenges of the future. We are a better community because you served. Thank you.
