The City Council values the presence in our community of Dakota County Technical College, a campus of
the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. DCTC provides a vital service to the success of our
regional economy, giving our students an affordable way to learn and train for the jobs that are crucial for
local businesses.
Tonight the Council commends Tim Wynes, who in 2013 was serving as the president of another campus
in the Minnesota State system, Inver Hills Community College. Tim added the leadership role at DCTC to
his portfolio, first as interim president, and served as chief executive for both institutions. When his dual
appointment was made permanent, the system cited his accomplishments including creation of transparent
scholarship procedures, improved accountability across all sectors of the college, and implementing a
system to track and communicate with students. Since then he has overseen renovations in 40-year-old
classroom spaces for transportation studies and continued improvements to DCTC’s curriculum. Earlier
this year, Tim announced he will retire from the Minnesota State system.
In the words of the plaque we are about to present,
The Rosemount City Council
commends
