Rosemount benefits from a large number of young people who reach the Eagle Scout designation. It is an
award that the Boy Scouts of America describes as “a milestone of accomplishment.” Eagle Scout is the
highest advancement rank for Boy Scouts. About seven percent of Scouts complete the work to achieve
the ranking, including completion of at least 21 merit badges. Eagle Scouts also must plan, develop, and
give leadership to a service project for any religious organization, school, or community.
The City Council tonight continues its tradition of honoring these accomplishments by commending a
Rosemount student who achieved the Eagle rank.
Michael Johnson completed a major community service project outside Red Pine Elementary
School. The team he assembled updated and fixed the area of an outdoor classroom. They repaired
benches and cleaned up the landscape. Michael graduated earlier this month from Rosemount
High School. He will attend Northland College in Ashland, Wis., and plans to major in
environmental sciences.
