City Council Regular Meeting: June 19, 2018
AGENDA ITEM: MS4 Annual Report for 2017 AGENDA SECTION:
Consent
PREPARED BY: Christine Watson, Public Works Coordinator AGENDA NO.: 6.n.
ATTACHMENTS: MS4 Annual Report for 2017 APPROVED BY: LJM
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the MS4 Annual Report for 2017 and
authorize its submittal to the MPCA
BACKGROUND
Attached for your information is the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Annual Report for
2017. This report outlines the requirements for the maintenance and operation of the storm sewer system,
as well as the City’s actions towards meeting those requirements in 2017. This report is required by the
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and must be submitted by June 30 of each year as part of the City’s
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit.
A requirement of the NPDES Permit is to conduct an annual public informational meeting to invite public
input on the City’s Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). This meeting was held on June 13,
2017. There we no attendees. The required annual staff training was held earlier that same day.
SUMMARY
Staff recommends that City Council approve the 2017 MS4 Annual Report and authorize the submittal of
the report to the MPCA.
