RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve street closings for the Big Wheel Races
and Parade as part of the 2018 Leprechaun Days Celebration and to add the events listed
below to the 2018 Leprechaun Days Service Agreement.
ISSUE
In the spring of 2018, the City Council approved a service agreement with the Leprechaun Days
Committee. As in years past, street closing requests and the addition of events to the service agreement
have been brought to the City Council for approval.
SUMMARY
The current requests for street closings include:
1. Big Wheel, Trike and Scooter Races plus Penny Scramble - Wednesday, July 25 - 5:00 pm to 8:30
pm, Burma Ave. from 145th St. to 146th St.
2. Parade - Saturday, July 28 - 8:30 am to 1:30 pm or as soon as the parade ends.
At 8:30 am 145th Street will be closed at Diamond Path and at Cimarron Avenue; Cobalt, Dallara,
and Davenport Avenues will be closed at 145th Street West; and Shannon Parkway will be closed
at 144th Street and at Dodd Road.
At 10:30 am, the rest of the driveways and side streets intersecting the parade route along 145th
Street will be closed.
The Committee has also requested that the activities listed below be added to the service agreement:
• The Warehouse – Various exercise classes
• Friday Night Magic
• Irish Challenge LAX tourney
• Boys Lacrosse Fundraiser – Von Hanson’s
• Purse Bingo
• Rosemount Signs
• I Love Kick Boxing
• Rosemount Pipers Family Day Double Header
• Jazzercise
• Bully Prevention and Board Breaking

• Community Appreciation Cookout
• Sidewalk Sale and Ladies Night
• Car Crusher
• RHS Boys Alumni Lacrosse Game
• Woody One Man Band – Legion
• RHS Marching Band Brat Sale
• Free Root Beer Floats at the Rosemount
• Family Bingo with Chuck Brooks
• Boys and Girls Alumni Soccer Game
• Irishettes Dance Team Performance
• Irish Mass and Ice Cream Social – St. Joseph Church
• Gus Sent Me – VFW
• Irish Baseball Fungo Golf Tourney
