Park Improvement Fund Balance as of June 30, 2018: $674,936.06 Inflows to the Park Improvement Fund last month were as follows: Dedication fees — $6,800 Grants/Other - $0 Interest - $ 144.27 Donations - $0 Expenditures - $ 4,301.93 (Horseshoe Lake Park design and Lions Park) Lions Park Playground - Installation of the playground at Connemara Park is complete. In preparation for the installation at Lions, City staff installed drain tile within that playground perimeter so that site will drain much better with the new equipment there than it did while the old equipment was still there. Horseshoe Lake Park - The City's CIP budget includes funding for the development of Horseshoe Lake Park in the Bella Vista Development. The park plan includes an area for a playground, sun shelter, internal trails, lakeside trails, fishing/observation dock, a regional trail and regional trail signage. The City is also investigating the possibility of adding a basketball court to the park. The architect's estimate for the project was $348,889.20 (which does not include the playground or sun shelter). The playground and shelter are being acquired through purchasing co-ops. The project was recently publicly bid. There were a total of fourteen contractors on the plan holders list. A total of seven bids were received. Staff is recommended that the City Council receive the bids and award the contract to the low bidder. Listed below are the bid results: Construction Company Total Bid GL Contracting $354,809.65 Fried es Contracting $370,131.75 Urban Companies $400,225.00 Pember Companies $405,044.95 McNamara Contracting $451,104.50 Max Steinin er Inc. $529,750.00 Blackstone Contractors, LLC $563,401.25 Kid's Corner - We received a couple of nice comments about this summer's Kids Corner program in this past week's edition of the Dakota County Tribune (see the attached photos). Kid's Corner is a free park program offered in the afternoon at 4 parks each day.
