Commendations for attainment of Eagle Scout rank EXECUTIVE SUMMARY City Council Regular Meeting: August 6, 2018 AGENDA ITEM: Commendations for attainment of Eagle Scout rank AGENDA SECTION: Proclamations PREPARED BY: William H. Droste, Mayor AGENDA NO. 3.a. ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation of Certificate of Commendation Rosemount is proud to be the home of a large number of young people who reach the Eagle Scout designation. It is the highest advancement rank for Boy Scouts, described as “a milestone of accomplishment.” About seven percent of Scouts complete the work to achieve the ranking, including completion of at least 21 merit badges. Eagle Scouts also must plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious organization, school, or community. The City Council tonight continues its tradition of honoring these accomplishments by commending two Rosemount students who achieved the Eagle rank. Thomas Huffstutler designed and directed construction of eight mobile storage units for the Rosemount Family Resource Center’s food shelf. The project met a need to handle the increasing volume of food distributed at the site. Thomas is a graduate of Rosemount High School and is currently a student of the University of Minnesota’s College of Science and Engineering, working toward a career in medical technology. Kevin JoDell helped plan and plant 24 spruce, pine, and evergreen trees at a park in the Cobblestone Lake neighborhood of Apple Valley. Michael graduated this year from Rosemount High School. He will attend Normandale Community College and then the University of Minnesota to work toward a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a career in forensic science.
