Horseshoe Lake Park - Playground Proposals EXECUTIVE SUMMARY City Council Regular Meeting: August 6, 2018 AGENDA ITEM: Horseshoe Lake Park - Playground Proposals AGENDA SECTION: Consent PREPARED BY: Dan Schultz, Parks and Recreation Director AGENDA NO. 6.f. ATTACHMENTS: RFP, Playground Plans and Scoring Summary APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the purchase of playground equipment as submitted by Northland Recreation for installation at Horseshoe Lake Park. BACKGROUND The attached Request for Proposal (RFP) for the playground equipment to be installed at Horseshoe Lake Park was recently sent to three playground vendors who are part of purchasing co-ops. The RFP asked the playground equipment vendors to submit proposals that individually did not exceed our $85,000 budget. Each vendor was provided the opportunity to provide the City with two proposals. The City received five different proposals to review. A copy of each proposal is included in the packet. The Parks and Recreation Commission held a special meeting on Monday, July 30 to review the proposals. Residents from the Bella Vista neighborhood were also notified of the meeting. The meeting was well attended and the Parks and Recreation Commission members received a lot of valuable feedback from the residents when walking around reviewing at the proposals. Residents were offered the opportunity to provide feedback to the Commission regarding what was submitted. Staff had the residents vote on their favorite proposal. It was clear that there were two proposals that were most popular. The Parks and Recreation Commission discussed the proposals and took into account the input from the residents. The Commission recommended that he City move forward with purchasing the equipment which received the most votes from the residents, which was the proposal submitted by Northland Recreation. RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending that the City Council approve the purchase of playground equipment as submitted by Northland Recreation for installation at Horseshoe Lake Park.
