ISSUE
At the last meeting, Commissioner Freske requested initiation of a business visit program. After the
meeting, Chair Weisensel suggested using the ribbon cutting list as a place to start for scheduling visits.
That would mean we are reaching out to newer businesses in the community which could provide an
interesting perspective. At present, we have two visits that need to be finalized for Ten Tiny Toes and
Sentinel Assurance Group. We have also reached out to Scott Chiropractic, Los Tortillas, and Swag Shop.
Staff thought we’d start out with some companies that are familiar with the City as we work out the bugs
in the program.
A list of the ribbon cutting businesses are available for your information. If there are specific businesses
the group would like to target first, please let us know.
Another issue that arose when discussing business visits is who should all attend. Staff felt one or two Port
members along with one or two staff would suffice. Particularly if we are meeting with one individual.
However, there is some question if a Chamber representative should be asked to participate. This could be
somewhat problematic because many of our local businesses are not Chamber members. And the visit is
more for the benefit of the City. Staff would appreciate an opinion on this topic.
For now, here are the potential dates of the two visits. Both times and date should be decided, and who
will participate.

RECOMMENDATION
The Port should discuss the desired outcomes of the business visits and determine timing for the first two
visits. There may be additional visit opportunities available on Tuesday night as we are awaiting call backs
from a few businesses.
